If you're an experienced rower recently moved to sunderland, we'd love to get you in a boat. Come and join us take part in one of Great Britain's most successful sports in a friendly environment.

Open to a wide range of ages and physical abilities, the club caters for people who have never picked up an oar all the way to those looking to race at Henley Royal Regatta and British Championships.

The Junior squad is for anyone aged between 10 and 18, our current squad is made up of 40 members. The club aims to introduce rowing to young people both competitvely and socially. We compete in local and regional regattas and head races.

The Senior squad is for those who have some experience rowing or sculling, and who are willing and able to commit to a full training program six days a week.

The Masters’ Squad is for men and women aged 27+ with previous rowing experience who wish to be an active member of the our club these rowers are dedicated to enjoying themselves

Learn to row

Sunderland Rowing Club runs a learn to row courses during the year. The courses typically consist of 8 sessions of 2 hours where our volunteer coaches will take you through the basics of rowing technique. When you complete the course, you will then be able to decide whether to take up the sport competitively and join one of the training squads or you might decide to concentrate on the more sociable aspects of rowing
